1. Instead of media outlets deciding what to report, the audience of the future will have a bigger say in content, is that a good or bad thing?

There could be good and bad equilibria, depending on among other things, the nature of the contents. There are things that through disclosure and discussion, the truth will be emerging. There are also things that happen simply because of self-fulfilling prophecies; sometimes inflation and how popular a star is could be such examples. There are discussions about what the inherent rights of citizens are and it is currently heavily debated in the academic circle.

2. Of all the traditional media outlets still around today, which ones will survive in the new era?
 
The ones that remain alive are more likely to be those that survive the extremely low-cost competition in the so-called over-the-top (OTT) markets. Those are likely to be those that cross several traditional business areas. Because what you cannot make money but eyeballs here will mean money in the other areas. In the market, people are no longer talking about just media or technology. Lots of interest groups and PEs are focusing on the larger intersecting area of TMT, i.e., Technology, Media, and Telecommunication.
