【摘要】Recently the Trump Administration announced plans to place tariffs on many Chinese products. President Trump has made favorable references to a possible trade war. This lecture considers the reasons why this policy has been adopted and offers a critique of the policy. It analyses the evolution of the global trading system and the features of the current form of the global trading system. The current global trading system has enabled some developing economies to benefit from growing export markets and linkages with foreign companies while also posing some problems for developing economies. It suggests possible reforms to the global trading system.
