【摘要】We provide theorems that identify the distribution across households of the shares of household resources devoted to each member of a household. We also provide a new method of identifying the level of fixed or random resource shares, that, unlike previous results, does not require any assumptions regarding similarity of preferences across households of different composition, or across people within a household. These resource shares are difficult to identify, particularly children's shares, because consumption is measured at the household level, and many goods are jointly consumed. All of our results can be applied to data either with or without price variation. We apply our results to households in Malawi, determining the distributions of child poverty and of female poverty across households.
