【摘要】The past 20 years have witnessed an overall downward trend in workplace injuries in the U.S. (in both manufacturing and non-manufacturing workplaces) but an upward trend in Chinese import penetration. Did Chinese import competition make the manufacturing industries safer? Our preliminary 2SLS regression results indicate that there is a negative impact of Chinese import penetration on the industry-level injury rates over 1996-2011.
