【摘要】I propose a mechanism in which income inequality among entrepreneurs lead to higher gains from trade for workers in a dynamic model. A reduction in trade costs increases the share of total profits by the most productive entrepreneurs who have higher saving rates, leading to increased capital accumulation. The novel mechanism in the paper increases the wage gains from trade by 25.0% and the gains in aggregate output by 36.8% than in a comparable benchmark. Empirically, I find a positive relationship between trade openness and the national saving rate in a large sample of countries, consistent with the model.
