【摘要】Anemia is a possible factor that may be affecting the health and school performance of students from poor rural areas in China. There are strong indications that anemia seriously affects the school success of children and hence reduces chances to break the vicious circle of poverty. It could be a challenge of China’s economy increasing. Most existing literatures usually take the malnutrition of cases into account and pay more attention on the effect of direct payment such as money and food. Although there were some literatures indicate that the key of children's nutritional intervention is to increase their parents nutrition knowledge, this kind of study is rarely in China. The overall goal of this paper is to figure out whether the nutrition knowledge training can improve parents' knowledge and have effect on decreasing anemia. To demonstrate these points, this article uses a randomized control trial of information intervention among over 1,900 fourth and fifth grade students in 42 randomly-selected rural primary schools in Qinghai and Ningxia Province in China’s northwest region. Results show that parental nutrition knowledge training can improve parents’ knowledge and therefore had a slightly positive effect on students’ hemoglobin level which implies that Chinese government should include more intensive nutrition training and improve health and nutrition for students.
