【摘要】Using monthly transaction data covering all Chinese exporters, we investigate how Chinese exporters respond to U.S. antidumping investigations during the 2000-2006 period. Specifically, we uncover different responses across different products (i.e., extensive margin effect, intensive margin effect, price effect and trade defection effect) and different responses across firms within the same products (i.e., firm heterogeneity, trade intermediaries versus direct exporters, and single-product versus multi-product direct exporters). Our study helps piece up a complete picture of the effectiveness of antidumping measures, and points to the importance of incorporating market structures and policy uncertainty into the firm heterogeneity literature.
