【摘要】This paper investigates the economic return of college education in China using a unique survey data in graduate students over 30 universities in 6 provinces. In particular, the paper estimates the impact of educational background (BA, MA, PHD) on their wage, controlling other factors such as gender, working experience, family background and other learning related experience. The regression results indicate that the wage of a new graduate is significant positively related with the major degree they obtained, working experience such as intern and other learning certificates. The return has heterogeneous feature in that the return of BA, MA and PHD are all higher than SP, with MA bring significant increase on the return while this is not the case for PHD . However the education returns are all significantly higher for women PHD. Finally, we find social network, captured by family background, membership of being a communist party and leadership, significantly increases the wage.
