【摘要】I investigate how US politics influences the distribution of federally funded biomedical R&D. I focus on the greatest source of public grants in the biomedical sector: the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Preliminary results show that: (i) membership in the Committee of Appropriations is positively associated with federal medical research distribution in the represented districts and states; (ii) party affiliation is not significant, confirming the "bipartisan" hypothesis. That (iii) the membership effect goes in the opposite direction for the funds awarded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
