【摘要】All cultures have different ways (material or spiritual, for individual or its family) to provide explicit rewards for virtue role models that fit the respective moral teaching of pro-social behavior. With the example of Confucianism, we observe that such a virtue/moral system may be strongly based on utilization of the general assortative matching mechanism, without which the role-model promotion practice may not carry far to affect behavior of the opportunists (economic men). In an experiment study, we demonstrate that, first, AM is an effective mechanism to promote cooperation and, second, injection of exogenous virtue men may further significantly raise the level of cooperation in the population. This confirms the strong positive pro-social role of the practice of promoting virtue role models in human societies.
