【摘要】The economic consequences of leaving high school without a diploma are severe. Prior research has shown family characteristics, such as family poverty and parental education, are important determinants of high school dropout. Moreover, previous research has also shown family background factors affect a family's risk of child maltreatment. However, little is known about whether child maltreatment has a direct and significant influence on the risk of high school dropout, and whether child maltreatment mediates the effects of family background factors on high school dropout.
【讲员简介】方向明博士现任中国农业大学经济管理学院教授、应用经济系主任。归国之前在美国疾病控制与预防中心任职资深经济学家。1999年7月毕业于于浙江大学农业经济及管理专业博士生项目，获管理学博士学位。2004年8月毕业于美国明尼苏达大学应用经济专业，获应用经济学博士学位。曾任联合国儿童基金会专家顾问、儿童安全联盟专家顾问、北美公共卫生论坛副会长、美国亚特兰大中华专业人士协会理事、美国国家医学院“关于对健康政策成本效果分析时如何衡量健康及安全指标提高”全国性指导意见专家组成员。现任瑞士银行Optimus基金会专家顾问、学术期刊China Agricultural Economic Review副主编、学术期刊Public Health Research及ISRN Epidemiology编委、中国卫生政策与管理学会筹委会委员、美南中国专家协会联合会副秘书长、浙江大学中国农村发展研究院客座研究员。2005年获美国大学水资源研究学会颁发的当年度社会经济学及政策领域全美最佳博士论文奖。 2008年获中国留美经济学会颁发的邹至庄最佳经济学论文奖。 2008年获美国疾病控制与预防中心首届经济学最佳论文奖Kaafee Billah Award。
