【摘要】Marx was born just over 200 years ago. This lecture considers whether his ideas provide a basis for analyzing the problems of today – and for pointing toward solutions. Some of the main points of Marx’s analysis are reviewed briefly. The lecture argues that Marx’s ideas do provide a basis for effectively analyzing such contemporary problems as the extreme concentration of wealth and power in capitalist societies today, global climate change, inequality based on race and ethnicity, the rise of authoritarian right-wing nationalism, and the attempt by the U.S. government to dominate other countries. The lecture considers both short-run and long-run solutions to such problems based on Marxist ideas.
